How to make Cashless Payment in POS using FCMB

We are pleased to let you know that you can now make your POS transactions without physically touching the POS machine or even using your FCMB card. This represents a keyway to minimize interaction with high-contact surfaces such as a POS keypad, especially in view of the continued spread of COVID-19.

 With *329#, you can make payments without having to use your debit card or even touch the POS machine.

Here is how it works:
• When you want to pay for goods and services, the cashier selects “Pay with USSD” and then enters the amount on the POS terminal.

• A 4-digit Reference Code (RefCode) is generated and displayed on the POS terminal.

• You dial *329*000*RefCode# on your mobile phone.

• Authenticate your transaction by entering your USSD transaction PIN.

• The transaction is approved, and the POS Terminal prints the receipt.

How do I make POS payments without a Debit Card?

It’s quick and easy to pay on a POS without your debit card. Simply follow the steps below:

1. When you want to pay for goods or services, 
2. Cashier selects “Pay with USSD” on the POSCashier enters the amount on POS Terminal
3. A 4-digit Reference Code is generated and displayed on POS terminal
4. Dial *329*000*refcode# on your mobile phone and authenticate your transaction by entering you *329# transaction
5.  PINTransaction is approved and POS Terminal prints receipt.

What happens if the transaction gives an error on my phone when I try to pay, yet I am debited?

Not to worry, if this happens, the funds will be reversed immediately. However, if it is not reversed, please log a complaint on FCMB New Mobile App, FCMBOnline (internet banking) or the nearest FCMB branch. Please hyperlink to branch page.

The Reference Code I got is giving an error “Record not found”; what do I do?

If the Cashier generates a Reference Code for you and you do not use it within 5 minutes, the POS terminal will display “Record not found” or “Transaction doesn’t exist”. Therefore, the Cashier will need to generate a new code.
